MOMUS Air

Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia”

From Paris and Rome to Tbilisi, Crete, and Thessaloniki, the exhibition “Destinations,” at MOMUS Air invites travellers on a unique journey through art.

MOMUS Air at the departures level of Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” hosts the exhibition “Destinations,” offering passengers and visitors the opportunity to discover different places through the eyes of Greek and international artists. More than 35 visual artworks, digital creations, and video walls from the MOMUS museums' collections create a visual journey where geography meets personal experience and artistic expression.

The exhibition is the second thematic presentation by MOMUS Air, following the exhibition that explored the idea of flight. This time, the focus is on the places we choose to visit, those that inspire us, and the things that make them special. Paris, Tbilisi, Rome, and Crete emerge as distinct stops on a visual journey, through works that capture the character, atmosphere, and multifaceted aspects of each destination.

Thessaloniki takes centre stage in the exhibition through the section “Thessaloniki as a Central Starting Point and Destination,” featuring paintings, prints, photography, and performance art that capture the artists’ relationship with the city, its neighbourhoods, and its people.  At the same time, visitors can chart their own artistic journey, discover more information about the works and the artists via QR codes, and interact with the exhibition space through photography.

The exhibition features works by Jean-Christophe Ballot, Xanthippe Vyssio, David Kakabadze, Vasilii Kamenskii, William Klein, Christos Kountouras, Alexei Kruchenykh, Nikos-Gabriel Pentzikis, Marinos Tsagarakis, Yannis Stylianou, Thanasis Hondros, Alexandra Katsiani, Peter Wüthrich, and Kiril Zdanevich.

MOMUS Air is part of the project ‘Enhancing Digital Projects and Cultural Exports – MOMUS’ and is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan ‘Greece 2.0’, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
