Museum Alex Mylona
Ira Waldron
June 20, 2024 - August 30, 2024
Temporary

Opening: Thursday 20 June 2024, 20:00

Ira Waldron was born in Leningrad and since the mid-1980s she has worked professionally in London, Moscow and Paris. She has exhibited in Western Europe and Russia and taken part in numerous international projects. Her works are part of many public and private collections. Through a variety of media, including painting, installation, photography, screen printing, anthropomorphic porcelains and embroidery, she radically addresses social, political, religious and sexual issues that transcend conventions and prejudices with a sense of dark humor. Humor, playfulness and boldness are characteristics found throughout her work.

The exhibition pays tribute to this important artist, who passed away in 2023, reintroduces her to the public, while also highlighting her major donation of nearly 300 works to MOMus, made shortly before her death.

The exhibition is the second production by MOMus-Museum Alex Mylona in 2024 under the “Four Women Artists-Four Attitudes” series, which features women artists and curators.
