ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
The artwork "Bill-posting" is an abstract composition in which the artist incorporates various materials and objects onto the painting surface. The volume and textures of the objects used create a sense of three-dimensionality, while the use of colour plays a fundamental role and is an integral part of the overall composition.
CREATOR
George Yorgos was born in 1951 in Thessaloniki. He studied Architecture at the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki under the guidance of the visual artist Nikos Sachinis (1970-1975). He was a founding member of the Association of Visual Arts Artists of Northern Greece (SKETVE), the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (EEETE), and the Technical Chamber of Greece (EEET). His works include interior landscapes and landscapes of memory, portraying a dreamlike environment as well as images of a socially engaged space. The action in these compositions is instinctive and relies on seemingly strong contrasts: between shadows and bright colours, smooth surfaces, and volumes, optical and tactile phenomena.
