Herstories. Photographic practices, 1974-2024
May 17, 2024 - September 15, 2024
Temporary

In the wake of international debates on gender and identities and the recent trend in many Greek museums to investigate the creativity of women, this exhibition attempts to highlight the production of women photographers from the post-communist era to the present. This endeavour, the first of its kind in Greece, is structured around two axes - "Performance and identity politics” and "Social and political realities and the poetics of the photographic medium".

Curated by: Iro Katsaridou, Areti Leopoulou, Alexandra Moshovi, Penelope Petsini

Supporters: British Council, Goethe Institut

In addition, the exhibition is linked to the 5th "Fast Forward" international conference which will take place this year at the MOMus Museum of Contemporary Art, from May 17 to 19, 2024, with the special title "Hidden (hi)stories: new perspectives of women's photographies", co-organised by the MOMus-Thessaloniki Museum of Photography and two British universities, the University for the Creative Arts and the University of Sunderland.
